Durban: Representative Ngodup Dorjee visited city of Durban for three days from 24 to 26 February to strengthen Tibet Support networking. The visit was organised by Tibetan Society of South Africa (TSSA), a non-profit organisation based in Durban since more than twenty years. First, he visited the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), a leading think tank and conflict resolution centre not only in the African continent but also in the world.
He met with its Deputy Director, Mr Jerome and discussed about training of few young Tibetans as intern under ACCORD’s internship program. He then visited Gandhi Development Trust to meet Hon. Ela Gandhi, the granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi.
Hon. Ela took Representative Ngodup to Phoenix settlement which is located about 40 kms from Durban and gave a guided tour of Mahatma Gandhi Museum. It was very moving experience.
On the second day, Representative Ngodup gave a presentation on ‘’Global Significance of Tibetan Plateau” to a group of more than 35 participants representing various civil societies including Green Peace, International Women Development etc. It was highly appreciated by all and a copy of it was shared with them as requested.
