Canberra: Representative Karma Singey from the Tibet Information Office (alias Office of Tibet) in Canberra attended the opening ceremony of the Tibetan language and culture class at Campbelltown Public School on 25 April 2024.
Through the efforts of the Western Sydney Campbelltown Tibetan Community, this weekend class designed for regional Tibetan students was established to further Tibetans’ attempts to preserve and promote distinct Tibetan language and culture.
Following the introductory speeches by president of the Campbelltown Tibetan Community, Tsechu Lhamo, and the community’s cultural administrator, Yeshi Tsering, the chief guest spoke to the event’s participants.
Representative Karma Singey highlighted the preservation of the unique Tibetan language, culture, religion, and customs and encouraged parents to take special responsibility for imparting these traditions to their children. Additionally, he urged Tibetans to remain united and resilient to withstand the hardships that have befallen Tibetans and advised everyone to adhere to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s noble guidance.
After the Representative’s address, Dungyud Tulku Rinpoche, the special guest of the event, spoke to the gathering and offered ceremonial scarves to teachers and staff who are providing volunteer services to the weekend class as a gesture of appreciation.
