London, Sunday, 17 July 2022: Tashi Lhunpo Khen Rinpoche, the 5th Zeekgyab Tulku and DIIR’s Head of Tibet Advocacy Section, Dukthen Kyi arrived in London on Sunday to participate in a series of events organised by the Office of Tibet, London, across a four-day period, to primarily strengthen advocacy for freedom of religion in Tibet and raise awareness about the 11th Panchen Lama.
Their visit stimulates immediate follow-up on the advocacy work carried out by the Office of Tibet during the two-day International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief held at the beginning of July upon the invitation of the UK government’s FCDO. The event also garnered general interest among the Londoners through a week-long photographic exhibition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s four principal commitments in honour of His Holiness’s 87th birthday.
The visiting delegates will launch a book at the UK Parliament. They will participate in meetings with members of the UK parliament followed by visits to Buddhist centres, public talks, and media interactions.
During his stay in London, Zeekyab Rinpoche will bestow long-life empowerment initiation to Tibetans in the UK. The Office of Tibet, London, has also taken the opportunity to gather Tibetan youth in the UK for a roundtable discussion with Khen Rinpoche and Dukthen Kyi to discuss ways they can contribute to and inform the general Tibet advocacy movement under the broad V-TAG (Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group) programme, which is a flagship programme of the 16th Kashag to empower youth engagement.
