Tokyo: Representative Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya of Office of Tibet Japan & East Asia attended and spoke at a hearing on “Bloody Organ Harvesting in China and China occupied regions” by David Matas, an international human rights lawyer based in Canada, at the Japanese Lower House Parliament conference room today.
David Matas, the co-author of the book “The Bloody Harvest” and 2010 Nobel Peace Prize nominee, did a presentation on organ harvesting that the Chinese communist regime committed first on the Falun Gong practitioners and later on Uyghurs and other minority communities. He warned that if the international community continues to stay silent on this heinous crime by the dictatorial regime, the forced extraction of organs from dissidents and prisoners of conscience will continue.
The Stop Medical Genocide, an NGO working to stop and raise awareness of the Chinese government’s organ harvesting crime, and the Japan Uyghur Association organised the hearing and talk event. Around ten Japanese national and local Parliamentarians attended the hearing, expressed their concern, and condemned the communist regime for this grave crime against humanity. Furthermore, they expressed solidarity with all the NGOs working to expose and stop China from continuing the bloody crime in China and the occupied regions.
Representative Arya thanked David Matas for his presentation on Organ Harvesting in China and the organisers for inviting him to speak at the hearing. He condemned the bloody crime that China continues to commit against its people and the people in the occupied territories. He said that the increased death and disappearance of Tibetan political prisoners in custody and the Chinese authority’s refusal to hand over the dead bodies clearly show that organ harvesting has been rampant in Tibet too.
Representative Arya appraised the participants of the recent report by Human Rights Watch on massive DNA data collection taking place in Tibet for the last few years. The collection drive aims to achieve grass root level control on the Tibetans and instil fear in the people that they are constantly being watched. There is a growing fear that this DNA bank information will also be used to identify possible organ donors (match) and detain the victims on false charges.
Halmat Rouzi, Vice Chairman of the Japan Uyghur Association, and Temtselt Shobchuud, Chairman of the Southern Mongolia Congress, spoke on the atrocities perpetrated by China and the bloody organ harvest taking place in the respective regions. Inagagi Kentaro, Chairman of the NPO Falun Gong Association, spoke on how the members of the Falun Gong community have suffered all these years and that the repression has increased under Xi’s tenure. He warned that as Xi Jinping has secured the third term, Asia and the world will have tough and difficult times ahead.
The hearing was attended by Japanese parliamentarians, intellectuals, human rights activists, NGOs, and media people. Representative Arya interacted with the parliamentarians and the press and distributed books and information on Tibet. Tselha of the Office of Tibet accompanied the Representative to the hearing.
