DHARAMSHALA: Ven. Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration yesterday attended Suja TCV School’s Inter house Cultural competition in honor of His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama’s 83rd birth anniversary.
Kalon was invited as the chief guest of the event. The director of the school briefly introduced the event followed by cultural dances, group and solo songs by students of the four houses. As the chief guest, Kalon presented the prizes to the winner of the competion and addressed the students and teachers.
Kalon spoke about the importance of preserving Tibetan culture which had been passed down through generations. He emphaised that it is the responsibility of every Tibetan to preserve and promote this distinct culture.
Kalon also spoke about His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s aspirations and urged Tibetan students to study hard and maintain an ethical behavior. He said that it’s important to maintain identity once they start pursuing their professional careers.
