
DHARAMSHALA: Honourable Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok of the Department of Religion and Culture graced the Inter-house Cultural Dance Competition at Lower TCV as the Chief Guest yesterday. The function started with a welcome speech and introduction of the cultural competition by the Principal.
The cultural dance competition was organized to celebrate the 82nd birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and is aimed at motivating the young generation of Tibetans to gain interest in Tibetan culture.
Honorable Kalon congratulated the winner of the cultural dance and appreciated all the participants of the four houses for actively taking part in it. Kalon presented the trophy to the winning house and addressed the teachers and students of the school on the importance of preserving Tibetan culture to prevent any possible identity crisis in the future. Kalon further emphasized the need for more attention in preserving our language and Buddhist philosophy which are inalienable parts of our real identity and importance of moral values and secular ethics further urging the students to learn these values right from school.
Kalon further stated that Tibetan Cultural dance has its own unique way of expressing the life story of Tibetan people and their lifestyles.
The cultural dance competition was attended by Mrs. Nangsa Choedon and Mr. Karma Senge, Secretary of Department of Education, CTA, Mr. Thupten Dorje, General Secretary of TCV, Mr. Tsering Tashi, Director of Mentseekhang and representatives of monasteries and various institutions.
