DHARAMSHALA: Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, visited Dolmaling nunnery based near Dharamshala as the chief guest at the nunnery’s annual award ceremony on 16 April. The ceremony was also attended by Additional Secretary Tsering Samdup from the department of education and former Kalon Rinchen Khando.
Kalon presented awards to the students who have achieved the highest ranks in the annual examinations while Additional Secretary Tsering Samdup presented awards to the students who won the essay and Tibetan handwriting competitions.
Kalon Karma Gelek spoke about the methods of studying and the importance of having a goal in life.
In the afternoon, Kalon visited the nearby Chimey Gatseling monastery, Jonang Dukhor monastery and Gyuto monastery. The Tibetan settlememt officer accompanied Kalon Karma Gelek Yuhtok during these visits.
Kalon Karma Gelek Yuthok will embark on an official visit to the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries based in Ravangla, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok from 17 -29 April 2018.
