DHARAMSHALA: Ven Karma Gelek Yuthok, Kalon for the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, addressed a workshop for teachers on ‘Basic Education Policy’, organised by Parent-Teacher Association of Mewoen Petoen School at Nyatri hall, Gangchen Kyishong.
In his address, Kalon spoke on the introduction, objectives behind the adoption of this policy, the process of formulating the policy, and the importance of education.
The main objective of organising the workshop was to inculcate the emphasis placed on the Basic Education Policy by the Central Tibetan Administration and how to advance this policy in Tibetan schools. “As there is an increasing number of new teachers joining the profession, it was considered important to explain the policy to the new teachers,” the organisers said.
The workshop will conclude on 31 December after six days of comprehensive discussion and talks on the Basic Education Policy. The workshop is being attended by 39 teachers from Mewoen Petoen school.
