DHARAMSHALA: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay today interacted with about 38 college-going students at the Kashag Secretariat on the topic ‘Tibet and Leadership’. The session was part of the ongoing 3rd leadership workshop for Tibetan youth organised by the Department of Education, Central Tibetan Administration.
During the session, the President urged the students to pursue excellence in whatever you do, be it education, career, athletics, relationships, etc. He urged the students to not be bogged down by failures or criticisms, but face the challenges with a positive attitude.
He recalled an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama wherein His Holiness explained to him that most of life’s challenges could be resolved by looking at the problems with a novel,holistic way. When you are able to look at problems with a new set of eyes, you can discover solutions that you didn’t conceive possible earlier, he said.
He also discussed a wide range of attributes that make a good leader such as the power of listening, charismatic influence, timing, friendliness, honesty, integrity, and most importantly the ability to deliver. He said making tough decisions are a part and parcel of leadership.
Speaking about the global Tibetan movement, he referred to the strength and resilience of the Tibetan people inside Tibet as the most important and enduring aspect of the Tibetan struggle.
The third leadership workshop for Tibetan youth is currently being held at the Tibetan Administrative Training Center based in the Tibetan Reception Center near Khanyara. The resource person for the first three days of the workshop was Puneet Gupta, a training consultant with Dale Carnegie India. He covered a diverse range of topics such as projecting a professional image, increasing productivity through time management, problem solving, communicating with impact, enhancing teamwork, stress management, etc.
The following three days of the workshop from 24-26 May is being covered by speakers and experts from different disciplines and organisation of the Tibetan community. Topics that are being covered are Tibet and Leadership; Tibetan Charter; Evolution of Tibetan Democracy; Middle Way Approach; etc.
A total of 38 students from colleges across India are participating in the workshop.
