Vilnius, 12 June 2018: In this centennial year of Lithuania’s independence, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be visiting Vilnius, Lithuania at the invitation of House of Tibet, a non-governmental organisation based in Vilnius.
His Holiness arrives in Vilnius today Tuesday, 12 June 2018 for a 3-day visit. This will be His fourth visit to this Baltic state with previous visits having taken place in 1991, 2001 and 2013.
His program in Vilnius will begin with a press conference at His hotel on 13 June, which will be attended by all major news outlets in the Baltics, as well as from outside.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will then head to the University of Vilnius where He will address the students, faculty and staff on “ Human Values in Education”, which will also be open to the public. His Holiness will then take questions from the audience following His talk.
His Holiness will then visit Tibet Square – which was officially opened by the then Mayor of Vilnius Mr Remigijus Šimašius in June 2017 and bless it with a tree plantation to mark the centennial of Lithuania’s independence. He will also view the photo exhibition titled Tibet – A Different Reality, a collection of photographs by the late Lithuanian writer Jurga Ivanauskaite who has written several books on Tibet.
On the morning of 14 June, Members of Lithuanian Parliamentary Tibet Group and Tibet supporters will have an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. On the same day, His Holiness will deliver a public talk on “The Art of Happiness” at the Siemens Arena.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will have lunch meetings with the organisers of the visit at the hotel on 14 June. His Holiness will depart Vilnius for Riga on 15 June.
