MILAN: Kalon Pema Chhinjor, who arrived in Milan yesterday, told the Tibetan community that the present Kashag has achieved strong support from the international community on the issue of Tibet during the past ten months of tenure.
Kalon Pema Chhinjor said he had especially come to Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Germany, to meet Tibetans and take part in the celebration His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 77th birthday. He said that it was the wish of Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay that Kalons meet Tibetans and take part in His Holiness’s birthday celebrations in areas where large numbers of Tibetans live.
He said during the first ten months of the present Kashag’s tenure, it had achieved supports on Tibet from the international community in the form of resolutions passed by the US Congress, Japanese and European Parliaments, the World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet held in Ottawa and the support shown during Kalon Tripa’s international tours. He also apprised the Tibetan community about Kalon Dicki Chhoyang’s historic address to the members of the Taiwanese Parliament and his own visit to South Korea to attend the World Fellowship of Buddhists conference in South Korea last month.
Kalon Pema Chhinjor urged the Tibetans to become a responsible citizens, uphold unity and work towards the realisation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visions, and emphasised that the Central Tibetan Administration is the legitimate representative of elected by the Tibetan people.
Kalon Pema Chhinjor was welcomed at Ghe Pel Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre by Abbot Thamthog Rinpoche of Namgyal Monastery, Mrs Kalsang Dolkar, president and members of the Tibetan community. About 30 Tibetans including Rinpoches, Geshes and monks attended Kalon Pema Chhinjor’s address.
