Portray of His Holiness in “Features of Peace” exhibition at the UN

Geneva: The portrait of His
Holiness the Dalai Lama is featured outstandingly among other prominent
Nobel Peace Laureates, at a photo exhibition opened on 12 March at the
United Nations.
The caption written on the portrait of His Holiness read as “14th
Dalai Lama of Tibet: For his non-violent fight for self-determination
in Tibet.”
Under the photograph, His Holiness signed an appeal in Tibetan
in his own hand-writing given in Bonn on 18 June 1999 which read as
“The darkness of violence can only be enlightened by compassion. We
therefore need to promote compassion with efforts.”
The exhibition titled “Features of Peace” is sponsored by
the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations and the United
Nations Cultural Activities and dedicated to Nobel peace laureate Aung
San Suu Kyi.
HisHoliness’s handwritten message of compassion on his portrait reads: “The darkness of violence can only be enlightened by compassion. We therefore need to promote compassion with efforts.” |
It will be on display till 28 March, when the UN Human Rights Council ends its 7th session.
