Planning Commission to Make an Exploratory Visit to South India

Dharamshala: The office of Planning Commission (PC), of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), will make an exploratory visit to Bangalore, Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu in south India between 12 and 25 December.
The PC tour emphasises upon exploring opportunities on the prospect and application of solar energy, bio-fuel, micro-hydro power projects, rainwater harvesting technology, Information Technology (IT) industries and organic farming in the Tibetan communities in exile.
The four touring members of the PC team headed by Dr. Kunchok Tsundue, chief planning officer, will visit Action for Food Production (AFPRO), Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE), TATA BP Solar, IT park and IT institute in Bangalore.
In Tamil Nadu, the team is expected to visit Tamil Nadu Agriculture University and some of the bio-fuel plants in the city where in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, they will visit the Department of Bio-energy, Agriculture Engineering College and Institute.
The purpose of this visit is to gain first hand experience of the applications of appropriate and alternative technology, to deepen and widen the scope of use of such technology as a means for making Tibetan settlements in exile sustainable and to find suitable linkages with key institutions and organisations specialising in such technology.
