Parliament to convene additional session from 26 May[Wednesday, 25 May 2011, 11:32 a.m.]
DHARAMSHALA:
The 14th Tibetan Parliament in exile will hold an additional session
from 26 – 28 May, the parliamentary secretariat said in an announcement.The
session which was earlier set to begin from 25 May has been postponed
for a day as the national general meeting was extended till 24 May.The House will deliberate and approve the final recommendations made during the general meeting on
the draft amendments to the charter on the devolution of His Holiness
the Dalai Lama’s political and administrative responsibilities to the
elected Tibetan leadership.The members of the parliament have to register at the parliamentary secretariat on 25 May. The
four-day Tibetan National General Meeting held from 21 – 23 May
unanimously approved a proposal to appeal to His Holiness the Dalai
Lama to assume the role of ceremonial head.
