Paris Municipal Council Voted a Tibet Motion

Paris (TibetNet): On 31 January 2006, the Municipal Council of Paris voted a motion in favour of Tibet. The motion was sponsored by the Socialist political group headed by Mr. Patrick Bloche and supported by the Socialist and Green parties, comprising of 163 strong municipal councilors. The other political parties -UMP, MRC, Communist party, abstained from voting.
The Council has decided to “hoist Tibetan flag at the City Hall every 10th March and to urge the Chinese authorities for an agreement to grant full autonomy to Tibet”.
The Council motion of the capital of France is a landmark victory for Tibetan friends and activists, and elected members. Practical details on organising a flag hoisting ceremony at the Hotel de Ville (the City Hall) on 10th March 2006 is being studied.
