Parbhini meeting decides for huge public rally on Tibet in Maharastra
New Delhi 20 January 2005: With the personal initiative of Mr. Baburao Potbhare and local organisation called Sameyik Yuva Manch and Samajik Andolan Manch, a Tibet awareness meeting was held on 13 January at Sahil, Parbhini (Maharashtra).
The meeting had participants representing different organisations active in the region like Republican Party of India, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samyak Pradna Manch, Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh, Republic Bachao Manch, Sameyik Yuva Manch, Vanchit Vikas Sanstha, Samata Sainik Dal and Samajik Andolan Manch.
Mr. A. Nikose, Core Group’s Central West Region Convener, while speaking in Marathi language gave a brief introduction about Tibet’s past and present, and how it is related to national security of India. Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk, Coordinator of India Tibet Coordination office, appealed for the need of mass mobilisation for the cause of Tibet. Mr. Vijayarao, a political leader from the region, suggested that a grand awareness programme must be organised in the Marathawada region and that he would give his best support in the movement.
The meeting chaired by Mr. Baburao Potbhare unanimously decided to organise a huge public rally for Tibet in Maharashtra. It was also decided that a Tibet support Group will be formed in the region and suitable name for the group and list of committee members shall be made public after having discussion with group already existent in Ahmednagar.
The meeting was followed by a press conference which was briefed by A. Nikose and ITCO coordinator. A copy of resolution adopted at the Aurangabad Tibet Support Groups’ Conference was also distributed.
