Dharamshala: The outgoing Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and his 15th Kashag were accorded a spate of awards and felicitations by major Tibetan NGOs and representatives of Tibetan communities worldwide.
In a glittering ceremony hosted in the presence of outgoing Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and Kalons of the 15th Kashag, Dokham Chushi Gangdruk, Dokham Tehor and Dokham Dra-sog-dri presented rich tributes of gratitude to Dr Lobsang Sangay. The ceremony was held at the Sikyong auditorium on 21 May.
Dokham Chushi Gangruk presented Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay with a statue of Manjushri and a Plaque of Honour recognising his tireless service and contribution to the Tibetan cause and service in the ten years. Similarly, the outgoing Kalons and the Kashag Secretary were felicitated with a thangka each.
Representatives of the Dokham Tehor presented a golden plaque of honour to outgoing Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and the Kalons. Member of the 16th Tibetan Parliament, Khenpo Kada Ngodup Sonam as one of the representatives, profusely expressed their gratitude to Dr Sangay for championing the cause of Tibet and fulfilling the cherished aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Member of the Parliament Ngawang Tharpa Gewatsang spoke briefly at the ceremony, offering the utmost gratitude of the people of Sog Dzong and those of Drachen and Driru.
Symbolising their tribute and profound gratitude, the representatives of the Dra-Sog-Dri presented a Buddha statue and a plaque of honour to the outgoing Sikyong and statue each to the Kalons.
