Orientation Course for Students in 2006 Scholarship by the Education Department

Dharamshala: The Education Department of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is giving an orientation course for the 2006 batch students of the Tibetan Scholarship Programme (TSP) at the Lhakpa Tsering Memorial Hall of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR).
Every year the department provides Fulbright Scholarship for higher studies to deserving graduated students to study in US and the selected persons are given orientation course before leaving.
The orientation course which began yesterday, was opened with welcome speech by Kalon Thupten Lungrik, Kalon for the Education and Health Departments of the CTA.
Following which the secretary for the DIIR Mr. Thubten Samphel briefed them on present condition of Tibet in international scenario.
They also heard about the Middle-Way-Approach, and human rights situation inside Tibet from Mr. Dawa Tsering of the DIIR and Mr. Jampa Monlam of the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy respectively.
This morning the 2006 TSP students were given talk on the fundamental of the Buddhism by Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives.
They will be introduced to the Tibetan Fulbright Alumni Associataion (TFFA) by the TFAA President in the afternoon. The two-day orientation course will conclude with a discussion with Mrs. Tashi Dolma, joint secretary of the Education Department.
