Taipei: On 29 May 2022, the Office of Tibet in Taipei assembled Tibetan Association’s standing committees, members of local Tibetan election commission, Khenpo Tsewang Rigzin and Geshe Sonam Gonpo from Global Tibetan Buddhist Research Center at the office’s prayer hall to discuss three agendas.
During the evening meeting, Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen informed the gathering on organising His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday on 17 June with 100 invitees at Fuhai Guesthouse due to Taiwan’s Covid surge and Representative’s upcoming meeting in the United States.
Representative Bawa Kelsang Gyaltsen further apprised the gathering on advice given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at recent long life prayer offered to him by Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism and Sakya Trichen Gongma Rinpoche at his addressing to CTA staff. Representative further briefed his meetings with former Vice President of Taiwan Chen Chien-Jen, and Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.
Following the discussion on the first agenda, the Accountant cum Assistant of the office, Tsering Dorjee, elucidated to the attendees on guidelines for filling the demographic survey form issued by the 16th Kashag and Tibetan Election Commission’s form for reforming its election process.
In the following two days, Geshe Jamphel Choezin (Buddhist teacher at the OOT ), with the help of a class representative, handed over the assets of prayer hall to Accountant Tsering Dorjee in the presence of Representative Bawa as an official witness. In addition, the staff of Office of Tibet, representative of Tibetan Community and representative of Buddhist class hosted a farewell ceremony for Geshe Jamphel Choezin, who has served the position for over 17 years.
