London: On December 8, 2021, the Chair of the Parliamentary Group for Relations with Tibet in the Lithuanian Parliament called Seimas Dr. Andrius Navickas MP arranged a webinar on current Human Rights situation inside Tibet. The meeting was devoted to the International Human Rights Day on December 10 and was attended by Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Group for Тibet Dr. Laima Andrikienė MP, members of the Group Mr Romualdas Vaitkus MP and Mr Andrius Kupčinskas MP, members of the Tibet Support Group Vytis Vidunas and Robertas Mažeika, Representative Mr. Sonam Tsering Frasi and Secretary Ms. Tsering Tsomo from Offic of Tibet, London.
The chair Dr. Navickas welcomed all to the meeting and invited Representative Mr. Sonam Tsering Frasi to report on serious human rights situations in Tibet and perspectives and plans of CTA in dealing with Chinese atrocities in Tibet.
Representative Mr. Sonam Frasi began by thanking Dr. Andrius Nacickas, Dr. Laima and the groups for their unwavering support for the Tibetan cause, particularly for obtaining the two major official announcements from the Seimas in May 2020 for the release of Panchen Lama- Gendhun Choekyi Nyima and recent call for Lithuania government to Boycott Beijing Games. Mr. Frasi commended the Lithuanian government being the first nation to Boycott Beijing Games over human rights concerns.
Mr. Frasi then reported most fundamental human rights violations inside Tibet including force labour, mass detention and lack of information flow from Tibet.
Mr. Frasi also introduced for the audience the situation of Tibetan community in exile and CTA continue to pursue non violence and middle way policies to resolve the issue of Tibet and seeking continuous support from the members of parliamentarians and the Tibet supporters in resolving the Tibet issue with China.
Members asked many questions including His Holiness the Dalai Lama‘s health and shown great concern for Tibet and expressed a strong support for the peaceful struggle of Tibetan people. Participants of the webinar discussed about the ways the information about Tibet could be spread among Lithuanian politicians and society. Members of TSG introduced events will be held on December 10 – a public picket in front of PRC Embassy and the screening of the documentary Bringing Tibet Home and invited the MPs for the event.
In the end, all participants wished a good health and long live for His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama.
