Leh, Ladakh: On 20 May 2026, Ladakh commemorated the 84th birthday of the 9th Thiksey Rinpoche, Nawang Jamyang Chamba Stanzin, with a special ceremony during which the Thiksey Medal was conferred upon Tenzin Taklha, Secretary at the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (OHHDL), with the award being received on his behalf by his wife.

The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries from Ladakh, as well as representatives of the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement, including the CRO Ladakh, the Vice President of the Sonamling Local Tibetan Assembly, the Secretary of Ladakh Phodhang Ghapheling, the Principal of TCV School Ladakh, the President of RTYC Leh, and the President of RTWA Leh.
