Taiwan: On 30 June 2024, the Office of Tibet, Taiwan, celebrated the 90th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Chientian Youth Activity Centre in Taipei. The event was attended by a diverse group of guests, including Gaden Shartse Monastery Khen Rinpoche (Abbot) Jangchup Sangye, Former Taiwan Parliamentarian Yu Mei Nu, Member of the Board of the Office of Tibet Taiwan Huang Ruei Rou, and President of the Tibetan Association of Taiwan Tashi Tsering, along with about 500 Taiwanese friends and Tibetans.
During the celebration, Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen Bawa shared information about His Holiness’s four commitments, his relationship with his Taiwanese followers, and Taiwan’s policy changes to facilitate movements for Tibetans.
Additionally, on 23 June 2024, the Taiwan Tibetan Buddhist Association organised another celebration at the Chientian Youth Activity Center, which was attended by over 300 people. The event included guests like Mingyur Youdon, Secretary at the Office of Tibet in Taiwan, Buddhist philosophy teacher Geshe Tenzin Namdrol, and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery Abbot Zikyab Rinpoche. During this celebration, Secretary Mingyur Youdon introduced the four commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the event continued with the recitation of the Medicine Buddha’s mantra.
Furthermore, on 29 June 2024, the Gaden Shartse Monastery Association hosted a significant birthday celebration for His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Kaohsiung, the former capital of Taiwan. Distinguished guests in attendance included Taiwan parliamentarians Hsu Chih-Chieh and Lin Dai-Hua, Gaden Shartse Khenpo Jangchup Sangye, and the president of the Taiwan International Buddhist Association. Over 1,000 individuals joined the commemoration, marking a momentous occasion of reverence and festivity.
