Kathmandu: The Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office in Kathmandu (also called Office of Tibet), in collaboration with Maha Guru Bhumtsok Organising Committee in Kathmandu, organised the annual Maha Guru Bhumtsok prayer ceremony at Shechen Tennyi Dargyeling Monastery from 14 to 17 June.
More than thousand monks and nuns, including reverent lamas, incarnate lamas, abbots/abbesses, dharma teachers, and Geshes, from the 16 different monasteries and nunneries located in and around Kathmandu valley participated in the Maha Guru Bhumtsok. In addition, over 600 lay people took part in the prayer on a regular basis and donated a modest amount of money for the organising committee’s subsistence and for its future religious events.
On the final day of the four-day Maha Guru Bhumtsok, the offering of a hundred thousand feasts to Maha Guru Padma Sambhava, the gathering prayed and recited Medicine Buddha’s mantra for the longevity and well-being of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
