
Paris: The French Senate Tibet Support Group (Groupe D’Information Internationale sur le Tibet au Sénat), in collaboration with the Bureau du Tibet, Paris, hosted a celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 91st birthday on 7 July 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Salons Tournon of the Palais du Luxembourg, the seat of the French Senate.
A total of 78 guests had confirmed their attendance, with around 60 ultimately participating in the celebration. The attendees included eight members of the French Parliament led by Senator Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, President of the French Senate Tibet Support Group; representatives of the Taiwan Representative Office; two representatives from the U.S. Embassy; representatives of various Tibet support groups; two Tibetan Parliamentarians of the Europe and Africa constituency; the President of the Tibetan Community Association; and representatives of other organisations.
Opening the event, Senator Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio conveyed her birthday greetings to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and spoke about ongoing efforts to further strengthen and expand the French Senate Tibet Support Group.
Representative Rigzin Choedon Genkhang then extended birthday greetings on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration. In her remarks, she highlighted the Chinese government’s latest policies in Tibet and drew attention to the recent self-immolation of Tibetan martyr Lobga Rangzen.
The celebration concluded with the serving of refreshments and birthday sweets, providing an opportunity for guests to interact and reaffirm their continued support and solidarity with the Tibetan cause.
