Washington: Representatives of Boston and Massachusetts-based Tibetan Associations along with Parliamentarian Dhondup Tsering paid a courtesy call on Senator Ed Markey, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Congresswoman Katherine Clark on Tuesday at their respective offices to push for the enactment of Resolution to Tibet-China Conflict Act which was re-introduced in the US Congress in February.
In addition to this appeal, the Tibetan delegation brought to their attention the concerns of Tibet’s 11 Panchen Lama Gedhun Choekyi Nyima whose whereabouts remain unidentified for more than 27 years. They also raised alarm about the ongoing Chinese policy of enforcing colonial boarding schools in Tibet where Tibetan children are forcibly separated from their parents and cultural root to assimilate them into the majority Han culture.
This one-day advocacy launched by the Tibetan Associations of Boston and Massachusetts was participated by Geshe Ngawang Thinley of Sera Jey Tehor Khangtsen, former political prisoner Ngawang Saldon and Lhadon Tethong (Director of Tibet Action Institute).
