Kathmandu: The 32nd anniversary of the conferment of Nobel Peace Prize on His Holiness the Dalai Lama was celebrated under intense security lockdown on 10 December at Dragkar monastery in Swayambunath, Kathmandu. The celebration was organised by the Office of Tibet, Kathmandu. The day is also marked as International Human Rights Day.
The chief guest at the celebration was Khen Rinpoche of Shelkar Choede Gaden Leksheyling monastery. The celebration was also attended by OOT Nepal Coordinator Tsultrim Gyatso, current and former Tibetan Parliamentarians residing in Kathmandu, Secretary of OOT Nepal, Representatives of the local Tibetan Assembly, Tibetan settlement officer, representative of Regional Tibetan Freedom movement, representatives of Gangchen Trust, principals and staff of schools, and monks of the monastery.
Following the offering of prayers and ceremonial Tibetan scarves to a portrait of HIs Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan parliamentarian read out the statement of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, and Coordinator Tsultrim Gyatso read out the statement of the Kashag.
