No Food Poisoning In School: Principal
Dharamsala 16 September: With the television channels reporting an alleged food poisoning in Sherab Gatsel school known widely as Sogar Lopta, Mr. Yonten Norbu, the principal of the school said that food poisoning was not the reason for the hospitalisation of some students of the school.
According to Mr. Norbu, the media reports on television have blown the matter out of proportion.
“We have only 590 students in total and the reports on the television say that more 600 students of our school have been taken to hospital due to food poisoning, this is ridiculous.”
Mr. Yonten told this reporter that 21 students have been admitted to the Zonal Hospital while five students are being treated at the Delek hospital. He also said that food and hygiene specialist from the Zonal hospital had visited the school to examine the food and water of the school and that it was found out that food poisoning was not the cause.
Mr. Yonten said that most of the 26 students were having diarrhoea and that it could have been caused by eating foods from outside hawkers.
None of the 26 students are in serious condition, says Mr. Yonten. “Our concern at the moment is to ensure a swift recovery of the ill students and false media reports only hinder our effort”.
Mr. Yonten said that there is nothing to worry about and that it was no less than a storm in a teacup.
