Dharamshala: On 19 November 2025, the new Vice Chairman of the 12th Local Tibetan Assembly of Miao Choephelling, Sonam Dorjee, took the oath of office, following the resignation of the then Vice Chairman, Tenzin Passang.

The event, held under the oversight of the officiating Local Tibetan Election Commissioner cum acting Tibetan Settlement Officer, Tsering Norbu, convened the Chairman and the members of the 12th Miao Local Tibetan Assembly for the ceremony.

The Local Tibetan Justice Commissioner of the Northern region, Choekyi, virtually administered the oath of office.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the Local Tibetan Election Commissioner provided a brief legal awareness session on regulations pertaining to the oath-taking of the Local Tibetan Assembly members.
