New career counseling office of the education department in Mungod

Dharamshala: The Department of Education (DOE) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) has opened a new career counseling office in Mungod Tibetan settlement, in South India on 17 October 2005.
Karma Gelek Yuthok, Secretary of the DOE, and also the chief guest at the inaugural event presented a scarf to Jamyang Wangyal, the career counselor for the south zone students.
The function was attended by Thinley Gyaltso, chief representative of south zone, Ngodup Dorjee, additional secretary of the DOE, Dhondup Dorjee, representative of Mungod Tibetan settlement, Tsering Samdup, education officer of the DOE and local people.
The function began with prayer offerings and introductory speech by the education officer of the DOE, followed by speeches of the chief
representative of south zone and the representative of Mungod Tibetan settlement.
While addressing the function, the chief guest said that the new counseling office not only aims to guide the students in choosing their career options but also in their day to day physical as well as emotional problems and to assist the unemployed youth.
In the afternoon, the secretary for the education department spoke on the new education policy to the teachers and local resident people followed by questions and answers on that subject.
On 18 October, the secretary visited the pre-primary sections and the Central School for Tibetans (CST) camp 6 in the settlement, followed by a visit to the CST Mungod and its branch school on 19 October and Drepung and Gaden monastic schools on 20 October.
