KATHMANDU: The Earthquake Relief Committee of Tibetans in Nepal released its report on 16 November at the Tibetan coordinator’s office based in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The committee was established after an emergency meeting in April 2015 to oversee the relief efforts for Tibetans affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal.
Since then, the committee oversaw the distribution of funds allocated by the Kashag and other organisations towards assistance in the aftermath of the earthquake. The committee also provided relief to the families of those who passed away in the earthquake and helped in the medical expenses of those who were injured.
“The committee has met at least 16 times since its inception and was able to provide timely help to the affected Tibetans as compared to the citizens of the host country,” a member of the committee said at the launch of the report.
“Therefore, on behalf of the Tibetans in Nepal, we would like to thank everyone who have contributed towards the relief efforts. We have also sent a copy of the report each to the postal addresses in our official record for your perusal,” he added.
The relief committee comprised of Mr Tamdin Dorjee, co-ordinator for Tibetans in Nepal, Mr Tashi Dhondup, member of Tibetan Parliament, Mr Migmar Dorje, Mr Kalsang Dhondup, Mr Karma Dawa, Ms Jangchup Dolma and Mr Karma Gyaltsen.
