15 March, 2003: A press conference for the screening of the feature film called Melong was held at Gangkyi Hall at 11am, 15th March, 2003. The film’s director cum producer and male lead Tenzin Sheshi gave an exclusive insight into his first movie project where the entire production including acting, screen writing, financing were carried out by a team which are all Tibetan. The movie reflects the exile community of the Tibetans and dives deep into depicting the cries of the Tibetan youth and their struggle. It is a one hour feature film. The story revolves around a Tibetan youth and his struggles.
The Director quoted the following proverb as the message behind the film: “There is no creator or creation. Our mind is the creator”.
Mr. Tenzin Seshi, 26, the male lead, Director and Producer is quite happy about the outcome of his first movie project and also at the popularity it has earned since its release. He has other such projects in the making which are due to release over the next three years and promises his future films to be at least as good as his first one.
The movie profession among the present generation of Tibetans in Exile has been fast expanding and beginning to bear fruit. Other Tibetan produced films known to be currently under production include, “Poison Charm”, a feature film by White-Crane-Films and “The Four Harmonious Friends” by Clear-Mirror-Pictures.
