Month-Long Exhibition Series to Highlight Philosophy of His Holiness and Tibetan Culture
Dharamshala 18 June 2005: In commemoration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 70th birthday, the Office of Tibet, Taiwan will organise in Taipei a month-long exhibition series titled “Travelling with Love and Wisdom for Seventy Years”.
The exhibition series beginning on 6 July aims to highlight the philosophy of His Holiness and the Tibetan religion and culture.
“Our main objective is to make people understand His Holiness’ philosophy of love, kindness and compassion for humanity and nature, depth and beauty of Tibet’s religion and culture”, says Tsegyam, representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Taiwan.
Over 100 rare images of His Holiness, writings of His Holiness, miniature of Tibetan artefacts, the making of colourful Sand Mandala and thanka paintings will be showcased during the exhibition.
The exhibition series also include talks on the Tibetan history, religion and culture by scholars and media personalities, including Ven. Arijia Rinpoche from United States, Joseph C.J. Chen, deputy chief editor of China Times, Pearl Liu, deputy managing director of the Programming Department of CTV Broadband Interactive Inc., Own Su-Jei, deputy secretary general of the Taiwan Tibet Exchange Foundation, and Caroline Lin, former senior reporter of China Times.
Films and documentaries, including Seven Years in Tibet, Compassion in Exile, Home Away from Home, Tibet: the Cry of Snow, will also be screened during the exhibition.
The chain of events in this exhibition series will be organised at various locations, including CKS Memorial Hall’s Reiyuan Hall, Chi-Ching Hall, and Huai-En Art `Gallery.
As an expression of gratitude and devotion to His Holiness for his leadership, Tibetans throughout the world will celebrate the 70th birthday of His Holiness through a series of religious, social, education and health programmes.
