DHARAMSHALA: Gedun Phuntsok, an 18-year-old Tibetan monk from Kirti monastery in Ngaba County, staged a lone protest urging the Chinese government to allow the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
He held the protest on the main street of Ngaba town, carrying a portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama with a yellow Khatag (Tibetan ceremonial scarf) on his head. He also raised calls for freedom and equality in Tibet.
The Chinese authorities arrested him within a few minutes into his protest and his current whereabouts is unknown.
Gedun Phuntsok hails from Cha Yultso in Ngaba County and was enrolled into Kirti monastery at an early age.
