DHARAMSHALA:
His Eminence Mindrolling Khenchen Rinpoche, the second highest
spiritual head of Mindrolling lineage, was honoured with the Bharat
Jyoti Award in New Delhi on 4 December. A battery of
dignitaries, including cabinet ministers of both the centre and state
government, Members of Parliament, industrialists, social workers and
intellectuals, were present during the award ceremony at the conference
on “Global Participation in India’s Economic Development” organised by
India International Friendship Society.

The
award is conferred on those extraordinary men and women who have
rendered excellent service in the fields of science and technology,
education, industry, fine arts, politics and social works.Minling
Khenchen Rinpoche was among the few to receive this award for his
excellence in meritorious service, outstanding performance and
remarkable role at this young age age in different countries. As
the founder of the Mindrolling Eastern Sun Group Lay Association, he
attributed the award to the kind support and hard work of all the
members of the association. He is also the vice-chairman of world peace
prayer ceremony.Born in 1970, Minling Khenchen Rinpoche was
recognised at a very young age as the reincarnation of Minling Khenchen
Ngawang Khenrab Gyatso. He received numerous spiritual teachings from
eminent teachers, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He currently
heads the Mindroling Ngagyur Nyima College located in Dehradun in
northern India.
