Dharamshala: Four major Tibetan NGOs in Dharamshala presented Appreciation Award to Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and Kalons of the 15th Kashag at a felicitation ceremony held Friday, days before the formal transition between the outgoing and new leadership.

Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay is set to depart the office next week with a long list of accomplishments that comprise his legacy in the last ten years.

President of TYC, Gonpo Dhondup, TWA vice president Kalsang Youdon, SFT director Rinzin Choedon and NDPT president Tseten Norbu jointly presented the Appreciation Award to Sikyong and the respective Kalons, recognizing their outstanding leadership in advancing the Tibetan cause and the aspirations of Tibetans in Tibet and worldwide.

Speaking to Tibet TV, Mr Gonpo Dhondup said the Award marked their collective appreciation to the outgoing Sikyong and Kalons for their “highly esteemed contribution and service to the Tibetan cause and people under the great guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama”.

The four NGOs are Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA), Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) and National Democratic Party of Tibet (NDPT).

The ceremony was held at the Kashag secretariat with Covid mandates in place.
