
Dharamshala, 28 September – As part of annual media outreach program of India Tibet Coordination Office, Delhi, four-member senior Indian journalists from Lucknow visited Dharamshala from 25th – 28th September, 2018. The four-member constitutes of namely Shri Hemendra P. Singh Tomar, Special Correspondent, Voice of Lucknow/Qaumi Khabarein, Shri Mehendra Pratap Singh, Zonal Editor, Rajasthan Patrika, Shri Raj Bahadur Singh, Bureau Chief, The Pioneer and Smt. Shilpi Sen, Special Correspondent, Sahara Samay News. They were accompanied by ITCO Coordinator Mr. Karma Dhargyal and Program Officer Mr.Choney Tsering.
On the last day, the group was fortunate to receive an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness spoke to them on the importance of ancient Indian knowledge in modern time and his commitment to revive the same for the betterment of the world. The group expressed feeling blessed after the audience.
The media group visited Central Tibetan Administration and called on the high ranking officials at CTA. They interacted with Ms. Tenzin Dhardon Sharling, Information Secretary, Department of Information and International Relations, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Deputy Speaker, Tibetan Parliament-in- Exile and Mr. Thupten Samphel, Director, Tibet Policy Institute. The group witnessed the proceedings of the Tibetan Parliament session, and visited The Tibet Museum of DIIR, CTA.
The media group also visited other Tibetan establishments in and around Dharamshala. They toured Upper Tibetan Children’s Village and interacted with Mr. Thupten Dorjee, President,TCV. The group visited Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, and Men-Tsee-Khang where they consulted the doctors and took Tibetan medicine. Earlier they also met with Padma Shri Dr. Yeshi Dhonden. They also visited Tsuglakhang complex and prayed to Lord Buddha there. The group interacted with two Tibetan elders Mr. Lhakpa and Mr. Yeshi residing in McLeod Ganj who had came from Tibet to know about the early exile life.
The media group expressed the visit had empowered their understanding of the Tibet movement. It had emotionally charged them to ignite new energy in strengthening the Tibetan movement in India in many ways.
The media outreach program is provides Indian media personnel with firsthand experience on the democratic set up of Central Tibetan Administration and its functionaries, and other Tibetan establishments in exile.
