
DHARAMSHALA: Lobsang Yeshi was sworn in as member of the 15th Tibetan Parliament in Exile on 31 January. He took oath of office from Speaker Mr Penpa Tsering at a ceremony in the parliament house.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Yeshi was facilitated by the speaker and deputy speaker, standing committee members of the Parliament, and officials of the parliamentary secretariat.
Mr Lobsang Yeshi’s election as member of parliament was necessitated by the resignation of Geshe Yundrung Gyaltsen, a member of Parliament from Do-toe Province.
After completing his education in BA political science and B.Ed from Chandigarh in 1992, Mr Lobsang Yeshi worked in various capacities in the Tibetan community. He served prominently as school teacher, researcher and translator, vice-president of the Tibetan Youth Congress and member of Choice, a Tibetan NGO against AIDS.
