Let me share a very special feeling I experienced this Lhakar as the temporary Official Photographer for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Last night I received a call assigning me to take photos of His Holiness’ teachings. Therefore this morning was a very different experience. I woke up earlier than usual, took a shower and went straight to Tsuglagkhang.
At first, I was curious as well as bit tensed. So I started thinking about my camera and remembered that one of the lenses was at the service centre. I was worried about this question of how well could I be able to take photos.
As Shantideva quotes, “If the problem can be solved why worry? If the problem cannot be solved, worrying will do you no good.” So I began taking photos.
Nonetheless, I felt blessed to be an official photographer for a day. I have felt the tremendous responsibility to be an official photographer but seeing His Holiness giving the teaching with a smile and his compassion towards members of the audience made me feel calm and relaxed.
This Lhakar, White Wednesday will be one of my most cherishable moments in life. I had mixed feelings of worry and joy.
Please enjoy a few photos that I have taken today of His Holiness’s teachings for the Taiwanese Buddhists at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamshala.
