
DHARAMSHALA: Dr Ngawang Rabgyal, Secretary of Department of Education, CTA inaugurated Leadership Workshop for Tibetan Youth at Tibetan Reception Center, Dharamshala. The 6-day workshop is being organised by the counseling section of Department of Education from 26–31 May.
In his inauguration speech, Dr Ngawang Rabgyal said that trustworthiness as one of the qualities needed for being a good leader. He requested college student to utilise this workshop in maximum ways to gain something while you go back to universities.
A resource person from Ru Education Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad has been invited to facilitate first three days of workshop. Mr Ramesh Partani (Chairman), Ms Margarita (Director-Education) and Ms S. Mahalakshmi (Director-Training).
Mr Ramesh Partani in his speech said, “every problem can be traced back to the failure of leadership, there are two main qualities needed in leadership; effectiveness and efficiency”. He further stated that within this three days, they will be working on this two qualities to combine with every individual’s personality.
Ms Dolkar Wangmo, Chief counselor gave the introductory speech and requested every participant to interact more and gain knowledge from the workshop.
Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay and Speaker of Tibetan Parliament Mr Penpa Tsering is also expected to address the students during the course of the workshop.
The 6-day workshop also include a host of other notable speakers like Mr Pema Jugney, Former Speaker/Chithue, Ven Geshe Lhakdor, Director LTWA, Ven Yangten Rinpoche, Gaden Phodrang, Mr S. Choephel Shosur, Election Commissioner & Chairman TPSC and Mr Sonam Norbu Dagpo, Secretary of Department of Information & International Relations as well as officials from the Central Tibetan Administration.
The students will be initiated about the Tibetan Charter and Parliamentary procedure; Tibetan Identity,Importance of Tibetan Language and Value Education; Dogyal, Middleway Approach, Introduction to Tibetan Civil Services, Advocacy and Lobbying, DOE scholarship and Yoga.
Over 52 college students – 30 male and 22 female – from 13 states are attending the workshop.
The leadership workshop for Tibetan Youth is a project of the Department of Education and funded by DFATD, Canada Since its inception in 1992, it has been engaged in understanding and dissemination of information on various political aspects related to Tibet with a view to carry forward the global movement of the Tibetan people’s struggle for freedom and democracy.
