Kashag’s Letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
22 May 2004
Your Excellency,
On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations on your becoming the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy. I hope and pray that India, under your leadership, will march on the road to peace, prosperity and stability thus making the twenty first century truly an Indian century. Ever since your country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru extended his government’s assistance to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people we have seen various political parties come to power at the centre. And all governments so far have been kind enough to us in providing us shelter, land and livelihood as any other citizen of this country.
The Central Tibetan Administration would like to express its gratitude to the government of India and its people for the invaluable support bestowed upon the Tibetan people and hope that the same support will continue to be given during your tenure as the country’s thirteenth Prime Minister. The Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetans will remain ever grateful to the government of India and its people.
With considerations of my highest esteem, | ||
Yours sincerely | ||
