Dharamshala: The 16th Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) led by Sikyong Penpa Tsering is currently at the Kashag Secretariat to review and finalise the budget proposed by CTA’s Departments and offices for the financial year 2024 – 2025.
Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations, CTA, accompanied Sikyong during the budget examination with assistance from Finance Secretary Tsering Dhondup Gyangser and the staff of budget section and Social and Resource Development (SARD).
The budget proposals include income and expenses of all the departments, offices, and autonomous bodies of the CTA for the preservation and promotion of Tibetan religion and culture, rehabilitation and welfare of Tibetans in exile and newly-arrived Tibetans, education and scholarships, promotion of democracy, entrepreneurship and women empowerment, information and international relations and healthcare programmes.
Following the review and finalisation of the budget, the consolidated proposed-budget will be submitted by the Department of Finance to the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile for further review and appraisal by the Tibetan Parliament’s Budget Estimate Committee. The forthcoming session of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile in March will be the Budget session where the Budget for the upcoming financial year will be discussed and sanctioned.
