Kashag Adds Task Force on Negotiation Unit to its Secretariat
Dharamshala 15 January 2005: After revival of ties with Beijing in 2002 and the three subsequent visits of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s envoys to China and areas of Tibet in the following years, the Central Tibetan Administration has geared up its efforts, as guided by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to build a strong foundation for talks with the government of People’s Republic of China. In one of its latest initiatives, the Kashag has expanded its secretariat by adding a new unit under it for the Task Force on Negotiation. The new unit will work as a secretariat for the TFN. Its main function will be to provide logistics to the TFN which grew from a five-member team to ten-member team with inclusion of Kasur Tempa Tsering, Kasur Tashi Wangdi, Mevo Gonpo Tso, a former Domed deputy, Dawa Tsering, head of the China Desk of the Department of Information and International Relations, and Dr. Kunchok Tsundue, Chief Planning Officer of the CTA’s Planning Commission.
The TFN secretariat may be assigned the responsibility of documenting the visits and dialogues of the TFN and arranging meetings of the TFN. It will maintain a close network among the members of the TFN.
The new unit has been assigned an additional secretary, a joint secretary, a deputy secretary and two under secretaries. It will be operational soon.
The task force members met for three days in December last year to discuss future course of action for negotiation with China.
