DHARAMSHALA: Karma Damdul was sworn in as one of the two other Justice Commissioners of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission at a swearing-in ceremony held today at T-building, Gangchen Kyishong.
Kargyu Dhondup, the Chief Justice Commissioner of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission administered the oath of office to the new Justice Commissioner.
Brief Bio of Karma Damdul
Karma Damdul was born on 1 July 1958. He first joined the Central Tibetan Administration as a volunteer teacher. After his volunteer service, he pursued further education. Later he served several years as the head of the trade section of the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives at Byalakuppe Tibetan settlement. On 1 July 1989, he was officially appointed as a staff of Central Tibetan Administration and served at Kollegal Tibetan settlement as Office Assistant. In 1994, he served at Hunsur Tibetan settlement on the same post. In 1998, Karma Damdul attended a workshop on trade and banking in Israel. Upon his return, he was appointed as the Secretary of the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives at Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement.
From 2000 to 2006, he served as the community head (གཞིས་འགོར་) of the Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan settlement. In 2007, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives. In 2009, he was appointed as the Settlement Officer of Mainpat Phendeling settlement. Following his promotion in 2011, he was appointed as the Settlement officer of Gangtok Tibetan settlement. In 2013, he served as the settlement officer of Bylakuppe Lugsam Tibetan settlement.
With his promotion in 2016, Karma served two portfolios, one as Chief Representative of South zone and as settlement officer of Lugsam Tibetan settlement for a period of three months.
Since 2017, he has been serving as Additional Secretary of Department of Religion and Culture.
