Dharamshala: Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche is at present on a six-day official visit to Italy, where he will address the ongoing Tibet festival in Vicenza, hosted by a mountaineering crew to promote awareness on the issue of Tibet.
Kalon Tripa will also meet some Italian sponsors, who are likely to finance some three hundred thousand euros for various projects of the Home Department of the Central Tibetan Administration.
The secretary of Home Department, Tsering Dhondup, will accompany the Kalon Tripa in the meetings scheduled on 17 and 18 December.
Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche is also expected to attend a meeting with the members of the Italia-Tibet Association and Italian friends of Tibet, scheduled to be held in Rome.
Yesterday morning, the Kalon Tripa called on the mayor of Venice, Massimo Cacciari, and briefed him on the current status of dialogue between envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the People’s Republic of China, and the efforts of the exile Tibetan administration for the peaceful resolution of the Tibetan issue. Both the leaders exchanged souvenirs after the meeting.
In another meeting with the president of the regional council, Mario Finozzi, and Vice-president Achille Variati, Kalon Tripa thanked them for their support for the Tibetan cause.
