Dharamsala: Kalon Tripa Dr. Lobsang Sangay gave a keynote address at a dialogue on the Indo-China and Tibet, organized by the Himachal Pradesh branch of Himalayan Parivar at Gangkyi auditorium yesterday.
The conference discussed issues related to India and China’s economy, military strength, population, religion and culture, environment and how it affects Tibet.
The chief guest at the conference was RSS leader Dr. Indresh Kumar and Kalon Tripa Dr. Lobsang Sangay was the guest of honour. Dr. Rajiv Bindal, health minister of Himachal pradesh, was also present.
Kalon Tripa Dr. Lobsang Sangay stated in his address that Tibet plays a critical part in the security of India and China. He said that China is building lots of railroads and airfields in Tibet. Moreover, there is an increasing number of Chinese presence in Nepal which poses a great danger to India. Therefore he asserted that India should support the Tibetan cause and address the Tibetan issue on a more serious note.
Dr Indresh Kumar stressed the importance of a peaceful relation between local Tibetans and Indians. He also spoke about the border issues facing China and India. He lauded the efforts of His Holiness The Dalai Lama for fully democratising the Tibetan polity.
Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Bindal, in his address expressed his warm greetings to Kalon Tripa Dr. Lobsang Sangay on his new role and wished him luck in all his endeavors. He said that Tibet has always been an independent country and gave a brief history of Tibet. He also added that Tibet has an historical relationship with India in both religion and culture.
