Kalon Tripa Meets Tibetans, Tibet Supporters
Paris, 24 May: After the successful completion of his tour to Nice, France, Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche arrived yesterday morning at Paris where he was recieved at the airport by Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in France.
Kalon Tripa had a busy schedule yesterday. Rinpoche met with about 22 representatives of various Tibet Support Groups in France at the Bureau du Tibet. Rinpoche spoke about the two main commitments of the 12th Kashag: to negotiate with China by commencing substantive dialogue with China and to initiate various ways and means to improve the life of the Tibetans in India, Bhutan and Nepal by uplifting their livelihood, by revamping the co-operative societies of the settlements and by improving the institutions, in particular educational institutions.
The same theme was elaborated in the next programme when Rinpoche addressed over 120 Tibetans who had gathered at Rigpa Centre. In addition, he spoke at length on the need for special prayer during the year as it is the year of Monkey – a very special year for Tibet. He underlined the importance of maintaining good relations with the Bureau Du Tibet and to maintain harmony and unity amongst Tibetans.
Thereafter he met with Mr. Pierre Anglade who had earlier made a video called ‘Spirit Warrior’ along with members of France Tibet. Mr. Shapiro, In-charge of International Relations at the office of Mayor of Paris, also called on Rinpoche. Mr. Shapiro assured his support for Tibet. Rinpoche will be here until the morning of May 26 after which he will travel to London to attend a public speaking event. The programmes in Paris is being organised by the Bureau du Tibet.
