Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay, as the chief guest, launched the new version of Tibet.Net, the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration on 14 December 2011. DIIR Kalon Dicki Chhoyang was present at the launch.

In his brief address, Kalon Tripa underlined the importance of internet as a medium to reach out to the international community about the issue of Tibet.
The upgraded features of the new version makes the website more user friendly. It provides information on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s efforts on promotion of human values, religious harmony; Tibet’s history, culture, language and religion; the Central Tibetan Administration and its activities; updates on situation inside Tibet. It features information on Sino-Tibetan dialogue, Worldwide Tibet Movement, Tibet’s Environment and Development Issues, DIIR Publications, News Flash, Press Releases, Statements, and Announcements. It also has a new photo and video galleries.
The new website also features direct links to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and various other social networking sites to create more awareness about Tibet.
The official website of CTA was first launched on 5 January 2001 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
In terms of visitors, currently, the website receives a monthly average of around 35 lakh hits.
It is visited by readers from around 145 countries, which includes the US, India, Canada, Europe, and China in the top 25.
