Kalon Tripa Inaugurates Training Camp
Dharamsala 30 December: Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, the Kalon Tripa of the exile Tibetan administration yesterday inaugurated a rural health proggramme called “Arogya Sewa” in Gadh Chiruli, a village near Nagpur, Maharasthra.
The Health programme under “Sadhna Kendra” a training centre based there, trains villagers in health education and sends them to villages to serve as health workers.
“We want to ensure that the villagers themselves could be able to take care of their hygiene and health problems through the programme”, Digambar Devatai, a staff of Sadhna Kendra, told Voice of Tibet radio service.
Prof. Rinpoche spoke in length about Gandhian principles and ideologies to a gathering of more than a hundred villagers.
Rinpoche will be back in Dharamsala on 2 January 2004.
