DHARAMSHALA: Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay visited Tashi Jong Tibetan settlement, located near Dharamshala and addressed a gathering of local Tibetans there.

In his address, Kalon Tripa acknowledged the hard work of the elder generations of Tibetans for the success of the Tibetan settlements.
He also said that in line with the three principles of the 14th Kashag, he is serving the Central Tibetan Administration for a peaceful solution to the Tibetan struggle and that, the policies of the Central Tibetan Administration are peaceful and democratically adopted.
He also informed the people that the Parliament of United States as well as various European nations and a section of parliamentarians from Japan have successfully passed resolutions expressing solidarity and support to the Tibetans.
He attributed these as some small achievements of the 14th Kashag to keep the Tibetan cause alive after the devolution of political authority by His Holiness the Dalai Lama last year.
He also spoke about the importance of education and urged the people to encourage their children to take interest in studies in an affectionate manner.
Regarding the extension of Tibetan Registration Certificate (RC) renewal, he said an application has already been forwarded to the relevant Indian authorities about the same and an answer is forthcoming.
Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay is accompanied by Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Secretary of the Department of Home at the address.
More than 200 people came to attend the address.
Tashi Jong Tibetan settlement is located 55 kms from Dharamshala. The settlement was founded in 1969 and the main economic activity of the settlement is sweater and handicrafts business.
