New Delhi: Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay, who is also the Kalon for the Department of Education, graced the 50th anniversary ceremony of the Sherig Printing Press as the chief guest.
The ceremony was held at the Drepung Loseling’s branch monastery, Jangchup Choeling on 28th October at Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi.
“As per the new Kashag’s policy of Unity, Innovation and Self Reliance, we will try to make the Sherig Printing Press self reliant with its own funds and capital. Similarly, new technologies and innovative means will be adopted to further develop the Printing Press. The books and journals that will be published from the Sherig Printing Press will have Unity as well as Innovation as its core theme” Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay asserted at the ceremony.
Kalon Tripa Dr Lobsang Sangay also stated at the event that he is happy to attend the 50th anniversary of the Sherig Printing Press and lauded the efforts of the past and present staff of the Sherig (Education) Department. He added that the Sherig Printing Press had a humble beginning with a capital of 9000 rupees donated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1961. And looking at the current financial status, the Sherig Printing Press has come a long way and has gone through a lot of development.
He also inaugurated the launch of the new website of the Sherig Printing Press, www.sherigparkhang.com.
Mr Karma Monlam, the Joint Secretary of the Sherig Department as well as the settlement head of the Delhi Tibetan Settlement, the head of the Printing Press Union of Delhi and other officials of the Sherig Department are also present. A total of more than 100 people attended the ceremony.
